Recently purchased 2 of these. How do you change them from 1000rpm to 540rpm? The guy I got them from thought you change the pulleys in the tongue. One has a 540 shaft on it but the pulley arrangement appears the same on both. Any help would be great.

I had one of those, and I loved it, but finally a bearing went out in the header so I had to pick up a replacement quickly. Mine came as 1000 as well, and I converted it by swapping the pulleys. The nut holding the front one was on really tight, and I had a ten foot pipe on my breaker bar before it broke loose. I Had a parts unit also, and I sold them both to a friend who had figured out how to change bearings with out removing the whole header box cover. It is fairly likely that they will have bad bearings, so run them for a half hour in advance of mowing time to give a bad bearing time to shell out while you still have time to replace it.

quote]Thanks for the quick reply. The better one has a problem in the cutter bar, I assume bearing. Haven't had time to open it up yet. I never run one of the vicon brand. They appear quit simple. I was glad to hear that changing pulleys will do the trick.[/quote]
