JD hydraulic cylinder

I am repairing my SuperH and it had an after market 3point hitch. Standard one way cylinder probably 20 inch. Somewhere along the way I was given a JD hydraulic cylinder that is adjustable and from what I read can be set to stop it's downward travel and that would be a big help for planting and cultivation. It is shorter and it would require fabrication to to make it lift implements properly. Has anyone had any experience with this? Thanks

Standard cylinders are 8" stroke so what length stroke do you have. All cylinders are measured by stroke and most do not give a total length. So hard to figure why the JD is shorter. And all the JD cylinders unless the last few years were 8" or standard stroke.

there were several different JD cylinders, old ones just had a manual type stop with a couple pins. Newer ones had a button built into the top and you adjust a colar on the shaft to set stop, I am not really sure how that one works. You can also get split colars that fit around the shaft to set stop wherever you want. they are fairly cheap.

Go to surplus center .com they have about any length cylinder you want and they give all the dimensions
