Hello I seen a NH 2000 big square baler for sale, rebuild tying components can anyone tell the good, the bad, and the ugly about these balers , and how much HP to handle. I would put up about 3 to 400 bales of grass alfalfa mix per year. Thanks Bryan

Not trying to be condescending or a smart alec, you just never know who you're talking to or what their experience is. You know that makes a 3 foot by 4 foot by 8 foot bale right? The way you worded the post,it sounded like you're wanting to make 3-400 small square bales.

The single tie knotter on those early NH big balers really limited the bale density. The Freeman was really the only successful big baler that was single tie. When the Hesston patent expired NH also went with the double knotter and the performance was much better. If you're looking for a NH I'd suggest nothing older than a 590 or 595 so you get this feature. Of course all Hesston big balers have the double tie.

Hello by 3 to 400 bales, I mean big bales, I put up 300+ big round bale per year and 2 to 3 thousand small squares , I want big square for feeding in our goat dairy barn ( 200 milking does ) big squares will store better in our shed and feed better in our feeders but I would have to make them about 6 ft to fit the feeders, Thanks Bryan

Ok,like I said, you just never know. I've stepped in it before,so I tread kind of careful. lol
