Lely Spreader and Potash...

Lely spreader on the back of my trusty JD 5055d - spreading potash this weekend.

The spreader is at least 40 years old, does a great job. I'd buy a new one on a heartbeat based on my experience with this one.

Those Lely HRs are a great spreader! No doubt about it!
I have 4 of them that I'm using to keep 1 operational!
Don't even think about a new one! The price will scare you to death! The only entities that can afford them any more are fancy golf courses!

Are you getting that Potash in Bags or dumped on the ground and you loading? About what is the price of it? Thanks

I have the same one but without the additional top part. I bought it about ten years ago at auction for $175.00. It had two holes rusted in the side, that I patched with stainless steel. It hasn't spread a lot of tons, but has been used nearly every year for top dressing after first cut.

Bags. We can't handle the 1 ton sacks and since our acreage is limited, it's manageable.

00-00-60 in 50 lb bags, preordered at the first of the year was $410/ton. For reference, the same ton in a sack was $395.

I do the same each winter for my hay fields, but include pelletized lime from Southern States. I rent the "buggy" from them for about $35. Pretty cheap and makes quick work of covering 20 acres for my smaller fields now.

Take GOOD care of that spreader. I priced one today and fell out of my chair! Over $3000! That did not include shipping.
