C-36 Fast Hitch harrow repair

I had to post this up, my buddy's repair to my disk frame. Got this disk last year inexpensively knowing it had a broken frame. I took it to my buddy's last week during a lull in his Teamster work and he went to town on it.

Started with this:

Blew out all the old welds, factory and farmer. What a mess it was.

Fit a new section of angle and welded it back it. I don't know if the gussets were original or not but they sure helped lining it up.

Finished by drilling and cutting new prong brackets. Took some time to line it up right. It would be a drag to do all this and then not be able to get it in the fast hitch because the prongs are out of whack.

I didn't get a picture of us straightening the rear gang mounts. In addition to the broken angle, the gang beams were twisted from abuse. Used a 36" pipe wrench and a BFH to square it up. And, I had already spent quite a bit of time last year removing the old bolts and farmer replaced bolts, replacing with the correct sizes and cutting new bolt bushings that allow the gangs to adjust.

Got it on the tractor with minimal fuss.

When the weather breaks (for real), I'll blast it and paint. It could probably use new disks, but that seems pretty expensive to do.

I bought a plow for my Super C up by Oshkosh Wi. about 15 years ago. He also had a disc he wanted $400. for with some broken blades. It was at least 4 hours up there and I would have to get a trailer so I passed, have never seen one around here.
