What can you tell me about this plow? It is for sale locally and I am going to take a look at it but i would like to find out more about it first. It would be used behind an 830 Case in sandy loam.

I have found pictures on the internet of a JD 1250 that looks about the same. The 800 didn't have the square beam from what I have seen.

This plow seems to have a few extras on it. Not sure what the metal "pad " on the moldboard would be called. I imagine it helps roll sod.

It's a JD F130 full mount 3pt. [looks to be 14"] Made 1960 to 63' Parts cat. pc-711 [ on jd parts .com] / Nice looking plow , good correct colters , better that the ones I have on my F130, 5 bottom 14" JD 4 & 5 bottom 3PT. Plows are sought after plows.. The moleboard pads are very rare option ..

F125 or F130. Very little difference in the two. Only thing to consider is for that plow to work correctly you will need a fairly wide rear wheel position. Dad had one on his 2520 and traded it for a semimount plow because he had to move the rear wheels each time he wanted to plow. The moldboard pads are a rare option that I have wished for a few times when plowing on hillsides. I have an F125 three bottom and on those you do not need to change the wheel tread. It looks like a good plow. Tom

No. If you look closely at the pics you will see a wedge like piece that attaches to the ends of the moldboard. The purpose is to turn over the furrow slice more and would be beneficial plowing at slow speeds or when turning sod up hill. Tom

I dug out the plow took a couple of pictures. Not sure what is going on here, looks like someone welded shins on upside down across the front of the moldboard on all 4. It cant have plowed well like that. I stopped digging when I saw that as I will need to see it lifted now so that I can see everything and make sure it is repairable. I am not looking for an expensive project.

About only thing that will wear a frog to point of replacement is plowing to long with worn out shares ; Or severe hits on large rock.. good used frogs & other moleboard parts ,in my neighborhood are easy to find, Many F-145 plows are going to salvage, most have HS moleboards..

Common for moleboards to get a 3x4 round wear dimple in that spot on moleboard, once thin hard surface is wore though, center layers are soft, wear fast, develop a 1/16 to 1/8 dimple.. It was common to see shin welded on over dimple,in my area; Most farmer did a better job of welding & trimming , then pic. Patch didn't seem to bother in sandy or lighter loam soils , But hindered scouring in gummy, wet clay, or black heavy gumbo...
