new idea 290 jackshaft

Does anyone know where to find a jackshaft for a New Idea 290 or Ford 535 mower conditioner , I inherited this machine and would love to get it working but the jackshaft is missing it looks like it runs the rollers and sickle thanks for any help
 
hat's a tough one anymore. I'd start at Fry's in Pa. 570-546-3968. They're mostlu NH, but may have an older NI in the yard
somewhere....
 
I'm not sure what you mean by jackshaft. I scrapped out a MF
which I believe is the same machine. I did save a few parts from
it. I already sold the gearbox but I have the driveshaft.
 
It the housing with four bolts holes that bolts to the framework it has a couple double pulleys and a sprocket on it wish I had a picture of it for you
 
Yup. The double B series belt goes from the gear box down to that, then over to the sprocket/double A pulley on the other side. That side has an orc built into it by a way of spring loaded pins in the pulley.

We let a bunch of parts for one go, including a Jack shaft that needed some work, at dad's auction back in November with a functioning machine. In hind sight, you're the second one since then looking for a Jack shaft.

I rebuilt the one that was on the machine, never got around to doing the other one as a spare.

The new idea 290, Ford 535, and Massey Ferguson hay tender (#81 I think) we're all the same machine. Without that Jack shaft, completely useless. You could have bought our entire machine at the auction for what just that one part will probably end up costing you. Was a great machine.

That's too bad. If it was on there it went with the rest of the
machine. It was here when I bought the farm and now that I got
rid of it people seem to be needing stuff.
 


There is a post back on page 8 about a New Idea 290. There was a note there from a person in Wisconsin who was parting one out. He may be able to help.
