Hello all, anybody on here worked on 359 mixer. The mixing auger no longer wants to turn. Ideas on what to look for? Thanks for any help you can give me.

There should be a shear bolt in the auger itself. First check if the gear box shaft is turning as you could have a gearbox problem. I had the auger bolt shear in the NH 352 we had years ago. I had the gear box almost off before I realized it was the auger bolt:( I learned alot but most of it the hard way.LOL Tom

I've never worked on a NH mill, but our Lorenz had intermittent mixing action, and I found a shaft coupler had a key sheared in it. So any drives going to the center mixing auger should be looked over closely for sheared keys. The vertical auger is probably keyed or bolted to the gear train below it, and a sheared bolt at its base may be your issue as well.
Good Luck!
Lon

Take the gearbox off is what I didn't want to do. I can see the shaft turning going in but can't see the shaft coming out. Don't know if it's pinned or splined. Full of oil can't see that any bearings are out.
