flat bed trailer maintenance

I noticed this morning that my flat bed trailer with 1ft removable sideboards was almost full of wet leaves.

I removed the leaves, of course the bed floor was wet. If left unchecked, these leaves can cause even a treated floor to rot,

good or bad, I keep the floor saturated with used oil, do not know if this helps protect it or not, but it is a mess if I want to haul something and keep it clean. The summer sun bakes the oil off the bed.

just a heads up to check the trailer bed and remove the dead leaves

I would be more worried about them rotting the steel than the wood if the wood is treated and oiled

We don't have leaf issues around here (not that kind of trees), but I have never done anything to our deck. It sits outside ever day of it's life. The boards are warping a little, and I broke one of them, but they are 11 years old from factory, and I think they have served their duty! They are not treated either.

Yep I use old hydraulic oil on the wood of my flat bed trailers.
It seems to help but I do not have trees around my place.

I told my daughter that she could stack rocks and old concrete in the flair wagon. It set and collected leaves and water. I realized one day that wagon had set for three years and it was about time to empty it. It emptied real easy, the bottom of the wagon fell out as soon as I moved it. :) That is another project, replacing the floor.
