Lucke Snowblower

Any one have a Lucke manufacturing green & black colored, rear mount 8' snow blower? They were made in Minot, ND. in 60's & 70's. They also made sunflower pans. I bought a used one several years ago. It is a single stage blower, has 4 cups, mounted on the auger. The cups throw the snow up through the spout. The blower will eat a lot of snow but not throw it very far. My guess is that the 4 cups are worn down and don't grab snow like they did when new. Any ideas to improve the machine or experience with it would be helpful. I have extended the spout and that helps but I kept adding length to the spout and the snow would fall back down spout when I quit blowing and plug the spout. Goggle Lucke manufacturing to see pictures. Web site says the company is still in business but I live in Minot area and have not seen any activity at plant for years. Thanks Dan S

Sorry I put same pix on 3 times I have another picture form website that I will put on of a front mounted blower. Its blower the snow way up and out. My blower barley blows snow 10 feet and dumps a lot out of bottom of blower back on to & in front of blower. thanks Dan S

there are vids on u-tube to super charge snowblowers,, guy just takes some mud flap rubber and bolts on the "paddles" that makes them fill in that space you are taking about,, he is doing it on smaller units but I would bet it would work on yours,, I added a link to it

I assume you are running the tractor wide open for engine speed? Brother had a blower similar to yours on a 930 Case and did a great job. We have Case garden tractors that have a single stage blower that throw farther than yours, they do a great job. Also have a Allis garden tractor that I had to put a different pulley on to get the speed of the auger up to throw good. Perhaps you can change a sprocket on your blower to speed the auger up some.

If that is such a simple fix and improves them so much wouldn't you think the manufacturer would do it? We have just a regular snowblower and it works just fine, but we have mostly nice dry snow in MN.

Thanks Case Nutty 1660. I was thinking of what to add to the cups on blower. Mud flaps seems to be a quick & simple add on that I could try now in snow.

Thanks casecollectorscanks. I am running full rpm to run blower at 1000 PTO speed. So I don't want to speed up blower any more, it might fly apart.

Thanks, Russ from MN. This is a well worn blower. It is well built and simple design. It will eat the snow and I need to improve the ability of the cups to grab more snow to throw it farther. The more I feed blower the better it throws snow but not like when it was a new machine. Trying to keep blower full while backing up is tough as too much then shear bolts break or chains fly off. As it is now, the blower works well enough for my yard & drive way, but would like to tinker with it. Years ago I had a 2 stage rear tractor snow blower, it would throw the snow a long ways. (I wish I still had that one)
