putting manure in a fertilizer spreader

A close friend told me the other day that he knew of a guy who put dried manure in a cone shaped 3pt fert spreader and spread it. Id never heard of that. I got an old EZ Flow spreader. Do you think IO could get away with doing this with it if I opened the bottom sieves all the way? I usta have a manure spreader and had it for 30yrs, but had no real amount of manure to run through it, so I sold it when I moved. Now I got neighbor who said he has a huge pile of horse crap in the spring and I can have it.

I do not think it would work very well,
If you want the manure, I would just look around, some one close by should have a old manure spreader out back
With a
Ittle oil and care you could have something that would work, offer to rent the thing
No use to break your fertilizer spreader,

Remember the manure spreader is the only piece of equipment the manufacturer will not stand behind!!!!!

We have a local trader who buys the old EZ Flow type spreaders and re-sells them to folks who use them to spread chicken litter. That being said - there's a big difference in chicken litter and horse stall cleanings. And you mentioned the cone type spreader too. I don't think you'd be happy with the outcome using either type of spreader.

There is a small pull type spreader designed especially for horse manure from stables called Newer Spreader,I bought one at an auction works very good on horse manure and chicken litter.

I believe you can or at least I know someone who has. The thing to keep in mind is your equipment won't last as long. Running fertilizer through it verse seed is way harder on the metal moving parts producing rust and corrosion overtime.
