JD AC -115 kerosene space heater will stay running

I have a JD AC-115 kerosene space heater (back tank, yellow top shield) that tries to run for 20 -30 seconds that shuts off. I've had to hit the reset button 5 to 6 times before it will finally stay running. I had it to my JD dealer who put in a new spark plug, fuel filter, ignitor & magic eye and run fuel and air pressure tests. I've drained the tank and put in new K1 kerosene. When asking the dealer again I was told maybe a new circuit board was needed. Given the age of this heater do I want to pursue getting this heater running correctly or should I consider purchasing another one? I believe the manufacturer is Mi-T-M. I bought this band new when the top shields were yellow and later changed to green. Any assistance is always appreciated.

I don't know if anything I might offer will be any help, as my experience is old, and I know nothing of this particular model.

You mention both a spark plug, and an igniter? Do you mean coil? On any heater I worked on the spark plug was the igniter, or vice versa.

The heaters I used to work on were the simple ones, with no oil burner type fuel pump. The pump only pumped air through the nozzle, which drew fuel up through the pick up and filter with a suction effect. You didn't mention nozzle. I don't recall having to replace them, as they could be disassembled and cleaned. There is a little seal down in the housing where the nozzle screws in, which is critical. It seals the air flow from the fuel flow, and as I mentioned, since the air flow through the nozzle draws the fuel, a good seal here is essential.

Hi Bob, thanks for your reply. I omitted in my original post that a new nozzle was installed along with the other items I mentioned.

my dads 40 year old knipco has been doing the same thing for quite a few years it wouldnt start this year so i took the top off and pulled the pipe out that goes to the tank out .tried to look through it but couldnt see light took a welding rod and pushed up from the bottom and a screen poped out plugged with rust and crud .cleaned out the screen put it back together runs real good.

I checked the JD Parts Catalog and located all the part numbers for the fuel filter, nozzle, Ignitor, electronic igniton, photocell, thermostat and power cord. Each part number shows up as no longer available from DEERE. The fuel filter that is used is on top of the fuel tank. I'll contact my dealer tomorrow and see what they say. If cost is very high, I'll most likely consider a new one. Thanks everyone!

Hi Bob, was good talking to you the other day. I accidently misplaced your telephone number and need to talk to you. Could send it again to me please? Thanks!
