coulter adjustment on Dearborn 10-165 plows

I have a Dearborn 10-165 plow with 2 - 14s and need help on setting the coulters. The coulters currently turn freely (swing back and forth) on thier shafts and I have no luck in trying to tighten them up plus I don't know how high the coulters need to be set or angle, etc. Want to set it up for spring to plow 3 acres for sweet corn, I guess now is too late to plow here in eastern KS. Any help appreciated. I did research for the settings but didn't have much luck.

The center of the coulter is generally set right above the point end of the shear. The coulter is set around 3/8" to the outside edge of the shear and landslide. How deep the coulter is set depends on the type of ground you are plowing, such as loose ground or sod. The depth is set so the furrow has a clean edge.

That will certainly work. I like them more like an inch to the left of the share point and about 2/3 of plow depth, whatever that is for you. Hub over share point (fore & aft) or ahead of that a little is OK, too.

Last I read ( JD) was the center axle of the Coulter should be 2" in front of the share point..

They always look like they are too far to the left when not in the ground and should leave a somewhat small step in the furrow wall..

I like them set pretty deep to cut trash..( FWIW)..

This is from the JD plow Operator manual.
Usually 5/8-3/4" away from the shin or leading edge of the moldboard. Move coulter forward if possible to allow for trash to pass through the plow.

Good luck,
