updating round balers-ideas?

Hey guys, I am currently running an Ago 5134 baler (4x4 bales)and am looking to update. The baler I have is manual tie, no frills baler. I am looking to keep the same size bale (4x4) but would like some sort of automatic tie. I need it to bale cornstalks, alfalfa, and grass hay. The Agco does all well except the cornstalks. What do I need to look for in a baler to bale cornstalks? Also what balers are you guys using that you like or dislike? I almost forgot- I have a 75hp tractor for baling. Thanks for any input and help!

Why stay with a 4X4 baler if you have a 75 HP tractor? Larger bales dictates less bales to handle, less to store & less to feed. My vote would be for a JD 430 or 435 rd baler then you could make any diameter bale you choose to between 36'' & 72''.

4X5 & even 4X6 bales can be hauled side by side without being over width unless they'e hauled on the flat sides. Down here in Tx all rd bales I've seen hauled are hauled sitting on round part of bale. I've bought hay from Missouri,Okla,Louisiana & Tennessee all hauled resting on rd part.

No experience with the Vermeer Rebel balers, but aren't they a simple baler without the bells and whistles, but with hydraulic or electric tie?
Last new baler I bought was all computerized. Nice when everything clicks right off in order, but one thing goes wrong in the whole process, you have to switch to manual and run it with the buttons on the monitor. Not pleasant.

Stalks are hard on any baler, but I would definitely look for a 644 NH. Nice hard bale and they tie quickly.....

I bought a 604L Vermeer. It makes them 4ft. wide and from 4ft to 6ft. tall. It is a silage baler and does a good job.

I have a JD 375, open throat that ought to work. It's a '91 and gave $5k for it probably 10 years ago, still using the same belts which are in great shape. Over the years I have replaced most of the auxiliary roller bearings. Bales a 5wide by 4 dia roll. It's manually controlled and I liked that. Reason is simplicity that means fewer parts and functionality that I can understand.
