Recently got a ford 903 post auger, fits my 63 2000 great but it's a bear to hook to tractor for one guy, I gotta get a stand made for this thing, any ideas or tips would be great, thanks Dusty

I just hang mine from a tree, let's it
pivot easy to hook up. Haven't used it a
bit tho since I built a hydraulic drive
one for the backhoe

I tear mine down, augers in the corner, the head goes under the bench and the hitch and shaft hangs on the wall.

If you did that in this part of Missouri buy the time you wanted to use it again you would have to replace the auger because it would have rusted away

I welded up a stand for my post hole auger years ago out of some scrap iron I had around the farm. Has worked very well over the years. I'll see if I can post a photo.

That is what I did with mine, but rust may be a problem
I need to put it on and check the auger

What I had planned to do was place my 9" auger in a piece of 10" heavy schedule 40 pvc then put gravel in the bottom of the hole so the auger never touched dirt, I assumed if water did build up after a rain it would soon drain out,

But I never did it so the auger is still setting in a hole in the ground
I looked for some trees to tie it to but never found what I wanted

It works great hooking up and unhooking standing in a hole

love the stand idea, I'm in central mo so i agree with Old if it stays out it will turn into a solid piece of rust, now I will scrounge some iron up for a stand so sorts, love all the pics and ideas, thanks , Dusty

I also chain mine to a post or tree

Back to tree or post raise up so tip is a foot off the ground chain around bit and post up by gear box and then put one at the bottum as well let down pull pins drive away I will take pictures of mine little shines right off after 10 holes.

Very nice stand!

I have a pipe mounted below the rafters in my shed. It reaches from the center of the lane to the edge wall. I hang the gearbox from the pipe with a chain before unhooking it. Then I can slide the gearbox to the side of the lane and hang the hitch/PTO in the center (from the pipe). It stores pretty close to the back wall and saves space. I plan to replace the pipe with a section of barn door track (someday).

The bad? There's always something that needs moved because the digger is against the back wall, ha.

We just bought a used Bush Hog auger last fall, it came with 2 augers and an extension. It's all so heavy there is no way I could mount it
alone off the ground, so this is what I did.

I used a boat trailer winch and mounted it in the barn with a pulley on a overhead beam, lets me adjust up and down to attach easier.

Ya but your almost in a desert area. Here in many places of of Missouri if you drill a post hole in the ground and leave it open in 24 hours it will be half full of water if not full

Old, where are you at, my I laws rent a place near Laurie, on the lake, I'm St. Clair areas, off I-44' sounds like your about 2 hrs from me. Dusty

Bush hog makes a PH digger stand. I bought one for my Bush Hog digger, never have used it yet have just left it on the tractor. Price at the time was reasonable.

Dustyah, I found this picture on this site 2-3 years ago. My son is making one for me as a welding project in FFA and will also be submitted as a 4H
project. I bought casters so it will be mobile.

I bought a used engine hoist / cherry picker crane off Craigslist and leave it hanging from it. Since it is on wheels, easy to push into the corner of the barn.

Around here if you find a rock with a crack you may also find a cave. I have 4 caves on my place and bet it I really tried I could find more

In the evenings in the summer you see a few flying around. Not any bats in my caves at least not this time of year since my caves are small and do not go in very far

I have a couple of post hole diggers. I just put a couple of posts in the ground and a short piece of post across the top and then got some small cable to hold the post
hole digger up. No big expense or problem and works well.
