Cobey Wagon Gear

We have a Cobey wagon gear with a 200 bushel gravity bed on it for hauling grain and the front axle broke off. Does anyone know where we can buy used parts or have some fabricated? We have checked around our state and have not found anyone that can help. I will post pictures so you can see what we need. Thank you, The Groses. Please e-mail us and we can talk by phone if needed.

No doubt that if you can't find a replacement, a good machine shop can rebuild it and machine it back down for you. Hopefully you can find a replacement. Bob

Cobey has been out of bussiness I would guess 30+ years as far as I know and they never made a gear heavy enough for a bed neer that size. So if that is your size bed get a 10 ton gear, think the heaviest Cobey would have been either a 5 or 6 ton.

Technically not correct. They are still around and well, just not in the farm equipment business and not called Coby Equipment anymore. Ralph Coby's daughter still runs the place, now called Eagle Crusher and headquartered in Bucyrus.

But you are correct in that parts for those haven been around for a long time AND that they dont have the right sized gear under the bed.

I'm pretty sure Cobey built wagon gears and other equipment for Ford under the Big Blue name. If you could figure out which Big Blue gear is the equivalent of yours, you may be able to get what you need from New Holland. Maybe.
As to them not making a gear heavy enough... If I'm right and they DID build Big Blue equipment, they had gears plenty heavy enough, including a 10.5 ton and an 8-wheeler with front and rear tandems.
