Farmall 300 moldboard plow choice

Good morning, I have a Farmall 300 that I am looking to plow with. I have searched for fast hitch plows, but found either 3x16 or 2 bottom plows for the 200. Can someone guide me as to what plow, make and model, size, etc that I should look for. I will be plowing heavy clay soil with sod at least some of the time. I can tell you that our old H can not pull 3x14 in the same soil, had very new rebuilt engine. Not enough machine. Should I look for a fast hitch plow or a trailer? Ground is somewhat hilly. Or should I find a fast hitch two bottom? Any model info or suggestions appreciated.

Thanks, Peter.

For what you are wanting to plow,I would go with 2 bottom(2x16). A 300 is bigger than an H but not by much. You basicly pull the same equipment with a 300,only faster.I think plow'choice' wouldnt matter, personal preference. However,i think a pull behind would do you a good job,and you can pull it with your H too.

I have a 2 bottom disk plow that is fast hitch I would sell. For its age it is in real good shape and I have even used it to plow up food plots and right now it is hanging on a 300U.

2 bottom fast hitch would be practical. if for a 200, then need to put on a 1/2 inch spacer on insert points to fit the fast hitch coupler hole. Used a 3 bottom fast hitch on 350D- was same as used on 560, had to go down a gear- but real handy in garden. RN

It may be hard to find but the best possible choice would be a good 2- 14 or 2-16 pull type with modern bottoms with throw-away shares on rubber and remote hydraulic cylinder. I have not seen something like this in a long time

In heavy ground an M could be a 2 plow tractor. Dad found he could get more done in an hour pulling two bottoms at a reasonable speed than lugged down and spinning trying to pull three bottoms.

it may cost more but you can get a fast hitch to 3 point adapter then you can use a 2x16 three point hitch plow would be easier to find

If your ground is hilly, you'd be happy with a 2-bottom fast hitch plow. You might have to purchase a 3-14 model 411 and remove one bottom. Model 411s are available and a good rugged plow. A 2-botton with small points for a 200 or super C might not be as rugged. Your 300 will pull 2-14s in second gear high side with ease. Try to pull a 3-bottom and you'll be in low gear and hanging extra weights front and back.

Hop on Craigslist and type in "bottom plow" and you will narrow your results to mostly actual moldboard plows and you can really get to business sifting through the plows that are out there. I have seen several 2-3 bottom fast hitch plows for sale lately. (I was looking for another model plow so didn't remember which cities or states they were in.)

Buy the 3-16 and drop a bottom off if it. It might be able to pull it but if its more than a garden sized plot I would want to deal with a plow that size on a 300.

Many great ideas, thank you all. Just missed a 3x14 not too far away. I found a vintage Fast Hitch operators manual that lists only a 3x14. The manual lists it as a 34-F30. Not sure what that means? A model? Don't know. I will continue to look for both a 2 bottom or a 3x14. Many of the 3 bottom plows that I see pictures of are a box beam type whereas the 2 bottom have a bent iron frame, some with a large spring as opposed to individual trip mechanisms I assume. Gotta make sure that the 2 bottom will fit the machine I would guess. That the wheels will be in the appropriate position, etc.

Thank you all again, Peter.
