Need to replace the spring on a dog (centre top of the bale chamber) on my MF12 baler. I realise that oem parts are probably no longer available but if someone who has a parts manual could supply me with the part number for this spring I may be able to cross reference it to find something that will fit?

Dont just assume that just becaues it's old that parts are no longer available. You would be surprised what parts are available
and which are not. Go ask your Massey/AGCO dealer.

Yes, ask the dealer, I've gotten springs for a #9 that were in stock!

Yes, the spring is probably in stock at AGCO dealer but unless they are nearby, I would check my local hardware first.

Cheers guys, I'd forgotten about that online parts catalog. I'll give the local MF dealer a try first then.

The part you need is numbered 152 688 M1 I am currently overhauling the knotter on my MF12 and picking up original parts tomorrow. They are available.

Sadly, not in Australia - where I'm located. I can get one ordered in but @ $100 a spring I might try and adapt something else to do the job. :(

Did you try your local hardware? or do they not have hardware stores there?

It's not a standard spring - I'm going to see if I can get one off a new holland baler to fit as they are more readily available here.

This is the new holland spring which is similar to the one I need:

We don't have any standard springs here. My local hardware has hundreds of all sorts of sizes, lengths, widths, rates compression, extension, etc.I just take my broken or weak one in and can almost always match up with one that works just fine.
