Help ID Side-Delivery Rake

Hey All

Can someone help ID the Manufacturer/Model of this old side-delivery hay rake? Sorry for the poor quality photos, I was driving along on my way somewhere on a busy road and only had my telephone camera so bear with me. If need be I can ride up tomorrow and get better photos.

What I find most intriguing - upon examination, this appears to be a right-hand rake. Note the construction of the reel in relation to the front wheels and drive mechanism. It's the opposite side of what I usually have seen. Unfortunately it is missing the reel bars (except for one) and one of the rear wheel struts is broken. Probably something that can be rebuilt with some fancy fabrication and welding.

Looks a lot like an IH rake I have. But the rake I have does not and has not had a seat on it since I have owned it. Broke a gear in it years ago so I took it apart and sold a good many parts off of it

I know this is nothing to do with identifying the old rake, but many years ago in the 1950s and on, New Holland made their 56 and 256 Rolabar side delivery rakes both right and left hand delivery. They also made a wheeled towing frame to which you could hook up two of their rakes. This could be either two left hand rakes (and probably two Rh rakes) to make two windrows at once or a lh and rh delivery rake to do a double width into a single windrow. I don't know if many or indeed any of these rh rakes or the tow frame were sold "down under" here in New Zealand. But saw plenty of brochures featuring them.

I saw one in the early 60s. Thought it would be net to build a hitch that kept the tails of the rakes 3ft apart, both ends pointing towards each other, the rake I saw and a normal LH rake. Saw it nearly every school day from 61 to 65

First off is what country are you in? That can make a big difference in identifying it. And it apears to probably be made before 1925. And McCormick never had a right hand rake according to master parts books from back in that time and they inculde the rotary rakes that McCormick abanded that type back in the teens. McCormick last built a steel wheel rake in 1958 or 60, would have to check by books as I don't remember for sure. Have handled several McCormicks from the teens. It is not a Dain forerunner of Deere, went from Dain to Deere id 34 I think without checking books or Sandwich fore runner of New Idea in about 36 for change in name. I would guess that it is not a USA Canada rake? Only right hand steel wheel rake I remember seeing was neighbors that I baled behind back in 59 and he passed that fall and as far as I know it went to scrap as well as most of his machinery. Never knew make, don't think he did either. I was 13 at that time. His was different than one in picture as the one in picture has an odd style frame. Last several years I have been rebuilding steel wheel hay rakes for the amish ans I have lost track of how many I have handled but I am guessing it is now above 50 rakes. Rebuilding 4 New Idea at present and have a Dain and know of a Sandwich.

Same thing happened to the IH rake that we had. It was the big ring gear that broke. Our IH rake didn't have the arched braces over the wind rower.

That tells me that it was not a Au or Nz made rake that I thought it might have been from the style as different countrys had different ways of styling something for the same purpose. Have you been able to find any casting marks. Other views might help in identifing it.
