JD two row corn planter identification

I have a John deere two row corn planter that was made in Moline Ill. I was wondering if someone could possibly identify it for me. I am currently in the process of restoring it. It has the seed bins with rowers and has dry fertilizer bins also. It looks to me as though it was a horse drawn at one time and has been converted to a 3 point style. I know nothing about a corn planter this old. Any help would be great. I would like to removing everything used for horse drawn as I only want to use it as a 3 point. Also would like to make it as simple as possible. If someone could help me find a parts list or operating manual that would be much appreciated. I'm currently in the process of just getting everything moving. I would like a parts list or diagram before tearing in to it. And would like to know ehag is not need anymore. Thanks
Austin

If it was a horse drawn planter chances are it is a 999 planter and a lot were converted over to 3 point hitch. Now tho if they were converted the value has reached junk price, but a good unit still set for horses will sell for hundreds of dollars. The 999 was a check row planter, the drill only version was 919. Now I have no idea about the lister-bedder type of planters as not used in my area. Your best bet is to find a dealer type parts catalog and I don't know if it would still be avaible in print from John Deere but they are no longer aviable on John Deere's parts lookup page on the web.

It says deere right on the seed hoppers. I know it's not worth anything. I plant on modifying it. I don't so much care the value it was my girl friends great great great grand father's. And I would really like to get it into working condition for her dad to use. I got the tractor (ford 9n) two bottom plow disc bucket blade and planter. And I would really like to get it working so her and an I could hobbe farm. Just trying to figure out as much as possible so I can get it working for him to use.

How do I get permission. I tried posting a picture but it to would not let me. And no it is not a 290. I believe it is a no 999 or 919 but I am not sure on how to tell the difference between the two.

For getting permission go to site comments down towards the bottom of list of sections. And for model between the two does it have the parts for the check wire, if yes then a 999 but there are perhaps a dozen variations of the 999 and they will have a letter behind the number. The 919 does not have the provision for a check wire and here in Ohio I have actually never seen one as the check planter was all that was sold here. Now there are older versions of the 2 row horse planter but they are scarce and they are a 99 or 9 and if you would find one of them a Deere collector would want it to restore for show use only. I have been looking for a good dealer parts book for the horse planters for years and have not yet found one in any condition. I have Amish friends that still use those planters all tho they are getting fewer as time goes on. Plates for the horse planters would be hard to find for modern sized seed. With work it could be converted for the newer plastic plates that are avaiable in lots more sizes.
