John Deere 750 mix mill parts availability

Hello I was wondering if anyone could tell me about the JD 750 mixer, are there many parts available for them anymore from Deere. Were they a good machine? What kind of horsepower did they take to run them? any other info would be great!

Thanks
Chris

The 750 was just a larger mixer than a 700 I believe. Last time I tried to get a part for the one I had,it went so badly that it was the end of the line between me and Deere. I've told the story many a time, but after a lecture about there only being three of those parts left in the world, about the price and "Why don't you just keep doing what you've been doing?",it was the beginning of the end if that's how I was going to be talked to in the place. I've got a New Holland now and the Deere went to the crusher.

That said, they had a Rube Goldberg setup of shafts and gears that kept reversing direction of rotation of shafts that was the real downfall of those machines. I always figured there had to be a simpler way to run things. Every other manufacturer found a better way. It took a good 90 horses to run one if you wanted any capacity at all. I ground with 60 horses a few times, but I would never recommend it.

The flat bottom mixer was the only big plus with those machines. I never put anything too wet in one that I couldn't get it out. If it would go through the screen,it would come out of the mixer without bridging up.

The parts for the JD 700 and 750 mixer were hard to find 10 years ago. So I bet they there are few left and they would not be cheap. I owned a JD 750 for years. I liked how it mixed. The unloading system was a total JOKE!!!! Paddles on the augers to "throw" the feed around the corners. You did not dare run the PTO very slow when unloading or you would plug the augers.

I replaced mine with a NH 357 mill and never looked back. Then when NH dropped the Grinder mixers I now have a Artsway 5165. It has been a good mill too.

Well thanks for your insight fellas, I'm just a bit scared now haha, I just bought one it looked to be in good shape, I'm not sure how much I will use it but probably more then I think. I was looking at a 359 NH in immaculate condition but by the time I had my sheckles together it was sold. I think I will keep on searching for a good used New Holland hopefully this John Deere will be kind to me.

i am not familiar with the 750 JD mixer but i do know that both deere and IH outsourced their mixers from arts-way for a while if your lucky maybe yours was made by them they still make mixers

Just don't open the slide too far that let's the grain down in to the unloader. I always slid mine open 6 notches and it worked fine. Any farther than that and you'll have trouble just like JD said.
