MF 62 3-14 plow coulters

Just started getting a MF 62 3 bottom plow ready for next spring. Going to turn over an acre of field grass and figure I will need the coulters. Plow came with two of the three coulters and I have a 3rd off an older Ferguson plow. All 3 need new hubs and/or blades but not exactly sure what to buy or where to get what I need.

The blades are pretty worn but think they are 15" and looks like the max that will fit would be 16". The Agri Supply web site doesn't really give you enough info to match blades and hubs other than the one below that fits a 17" blade which won't fit inside the forks. I can deal with the 3/4" center bolt but 17" or 20" blades will not work.

Any ideas?
Coulter Hub

Bob, Im not sure if you will want to go this route but here is what I did for my Case plow that was in tough shape.

I got it rusty and worn out. The coulters were almost seized and it is no easy task to find the old style Case coulter blades anymore. So there were a few Kinze planter hubs laying around that I snagged up and got some blades for. The hubs are sealed, reasonable bearing type and turn easy. I started out with wavy coulters and then got some straight edge for a cleaner furrow wall. There were a couple modifications that had to be done though. First, the holes on the coulter yolk had to be drilled out to the same size as the Kinze hubs (I cant remember what size off the top of my head). Second I had some simple spacers machined to hold the coulter in the the center of the yolk like the original Case coulters had been. Bolted it all together and had some darn good coulters that had a plethora of blades for them (I believe that kinze and yetter use the same hole spacing and sizes).

I have included pictures to help show you what I mean. Unfortunately, I do not have specific pictures of the spacers but like I said, they are simple machined pieces.
I have also included a website where I get the most of my plow parts (coulters included). The link should take you to the moldboard plow portion of their website however, there are many other coulters and hub styles that are offered by them. You will have to look around and see what you like.

Hope this helps.

bob, attached is a picture of my MF62 plow, 3x12"

I installed new coulter blades on it a few years ago.
I just measured from the coulter blade center axle bolt out to the frame, do not remember what that measurement was but bought the largest coulter blade that would fit in between the frame.

I had to grind off the six attachment rivets, the new coulter blades only had three holes, but they matched up to the hubs, so I just replaced with three attaching grade 8 bolts and locking nuts.

they have worked fine or as fine as a 12" plow will work,

in my humble opinion, a 12" plow is not much in heavy corn stalks or heavy debris, 14" or
better yet 16" plows have a much larger throat area for the debris to flow through,

Thanks for the help guys and Happy Thanksgiving..

Think I have figured out what I am going to do..

Start with the 3/4 inch hub I linked to above. It looks like these 14" blades will fit this hub and 14" blades will fit in the forks.

This leaves me to deal with the 3/4 center hole. Not a big problem, will order this tubing from online metals.

This will fit the bearings and give me a 1/2 inch center hole for the bolt.

And just in case I need spacers to center the hub, order a small piece of this tubing.

This is 3/4 ID, may not exactly fit over the above tubing but I have a lathe.

This will save me the trouble of grinding off rivets and trying to salvage the existing hubs, for about $55.00 total for each coulter.

This is what I am starting with, picked it up off Craigslist for $200.

Connor, I looked at the CFC site and couldn't find anything under 17" blades. Part of the reason I decided to go with what I posted above. Will let the forum know how well it works out.

BTW: What I will be turning over looks an awful like what you are plowing in your 2nd from last picture. I do not have a disk so am planning on running over it after I turn it over with my 6 foot tiller set shallow just to level everything.

Sorry Bob. I forgot you had a 16" limit. If you are still interested in going the kinze route I have attached a link for the 16" kinze/yetter plain blade.

Thanks, I had already ordered the hubs, disks and tubing when I saw your link. This is what I ended up with and believe it will work out really well.

This shows the 3/4 inch tube that reduced the hub for a 1/2 inch bolt. Then cut and trimmed two spacers out of the large tubing to center the disk in the forks. I did have to do a little grinding on the disk mounting holes to make them fit the hub bolts but wasn't much. Also had to take a few thousands off the outside of the 3/4 inch tubing so it would fit inside the bearings and spacers.
