From harvesting six rows to one.

Last Wednesday our corn harvest in Mid-Michigan came to a halt after a combine fire in our JD 7720. The next day we continued on with a Case 730 pulling a JD #18 corn picker. Slow but it did a good job. Does anyone know what years this corn picker was built?

Sorry to see your 7720 burnt. The 20 series are good old combines. I still help out with my 1979 8820 in beans. Seen a newer 8820 sell last fall for $3000--CHEAP. Good luck---Tee

Where do you figure the fire started ? In '09 we had a 6620 that had the fitting overlooked under the operators station. I had kept this combine greased since we got it ready for oats. I was doing this with the owner carefully showing me all the fittings per the book. We had changed the knives out, repaired the grain head floor and the auger on it, he never knew about that darned fitting. The bearing went out and they were lucky to have kept it from burning in a hard to reach place in one of the fields.
