grain bin flooring

I am trying to figure out what i can use for a floor in a grain bin I am looking at that is already taken down
It is 18' wide and 18' high I plan on pouring a 5" pad for it to sit on also I may leave a ring out when i put it back together
my question is do i leave the floor bare concrete or what
I plan on putting dry corn in it to store through the summer
I have seen the steel grate flooring for them but I dont want to put that much money in a floor

Thanks for any options

I think your 5 inch floor is too thin. You can pour a gutter across the bin, and there are screens available that are about 18 inches wide to cover that- then you can put a fan on one end. Get the screens first, and form a lip in the edge of the gutter so that the top of the screen is flush with the finished floor. Some use a "Y" configuration instead of a straight gutter. Most areas you don"t want just a concrete floor for long term storage, unless the corn is super dry.

I have 3 similar bins that I bought. I had gravel brought in so the base of the bin was raised a few inches above the surrounding soil so that water wouldn't run into the bin, laid out a plastic sheet that was bigger than the bin and set the bin on it, then poured 3 inches of concrete inside the bin. That keeps the grain well above any spring runoff, locks the bin so the wind won't blow it over if it is empty, and creates a smooth ares for cleanup. It doesn't take much to hold the bin itself and the grain pushed down on the floor, not the bin walls.

I made a deal on the bin today
Now the fun of putting it back together starts
when putting this thing together can I assemble one ring then put the roof on and keep adding rings to the bottom till I get it to height I want
we are looking at making it 12'H x 18'W
I still havent figured out what i am going to do with the floor yet I do know its going on a concrete pad around 6" thick

Are the sheets labeled, the bottom sheets are usually thicker than the top sheets, you don't want to mismatch.

Your assembly idea is about right.
