I have a harrow, that I bought around '92 or '93. It was used at that time. On various places I can see evidence of Ford blue paint. My best guess is that it dates from somewhere between '75 and '85.
I believe it is a 5-foot harrow (although it could be a 6-foot). The 4 axle arms are rectangular tubular steel. There are drop pins to adjust the arm pairs forward or backwards. Each axle has 5 discs on it.
Last Monday, one of the sealed bearings (front left axle) failed. It took me 4 days, and lots of PBlaster, to get the two hanger bolts loose, and the big nut off the end of the axle (1-1/2 inch deep well impact socket on a breaker bar plus a long piece of pipe). The bearing was removed and taken to the local tractor sales/repair office. They are trying to match it based on measurements. Square opening in the bearing is 1-1/8 inch, presumably that is the shaft size.
I trying to ID the harrow, in the hope that may help them find the correct bearing.
Does this sound familiar to anyone ?
TIA
