I just got one of these, is their anything special I should know about this, or any and all advice would be very much appreciated.

Just an average light duty disk. nothing special. Just keep it greased,it will last a long time. How wide? what are you pulling with?

I believe its twelve foot with wings, it has a twenty inch blade and I will be using a Ford 9600

Used one for many years. Added some weight to the rear gang which helped penetration. It did a good job. The only fault I had with it was the end disks on the rear gang were attached by clamping a two-piece spool to a heavy steel ring on the outside of the last disk which wasn't very reliable as it would constantly work loose and then eventually would fall off. I finally left them off but then the outside disk left a furrow. A good feature was to be able to adjust the angle of the gangs.

Adding weight to the back gang seemed to be a common thing with JD discs of that era then. We had to do that with our FW and LW.

I have one of those and in worked ground with 22" blades mine will stop a 100-125hp without duals, I bet you know its back there unless you are running firmed up stubble. Good machines. keep the gang bolts tight, and keep it greased, should be agood machine.
