Moldboard plow

Looking for a moldboard plow to use with to30 Ferguson. I've searched for the Ferguson, but also read parts for them are expensive and hard to find. For a new one I've checked the tractor supply, Howse brand, and one offered by agri supply. The one offered by agri supply is priced at about what a Ford 101 used sells for. Plus the 101 probable needs to be rebuilt. Any comments on the agri supply would be appreciated.

I'd be looking for a Dearborn with Oliver Radex bottoms. Those parts are readily available. I have one,but it's not for sale.

Question on Agri-Supply or TSC or others is who made then to know down the line 5 years from now is are any parts going to be avaible if you even know who made the parts to start with. At least with the name brands things like shares will be avaible. With the off brands you might have to buy a share that looks simular and modify it to fit. And those plows usually don't come with avaible coulters and don't buy a plow without good coulters.

The Dearborn are hard to find local. A 10-156 that pictures look good for 500.00 plus shipping. Would my to30 Ferguson pull it ok? Is that a fair price? Thanks for your imput.

As I understand there are different slope wings on Ferguson plows, I have a 3x12" MF #62 plow with what I call a high speed wing, must be going fairly fast to get then to flip the ground,

On a fairly clean field with little trash, they do a great job, but in heavy trash like corn stalks, they tend to clog up making for a very unhappy plow boy,

I would try to find 2x14 or better yet 2x16" plows as they will have more throat area to allow the trash to flow on through,

I have used 2x14 Ford 101 plows they did very good, much better than my 3x12" MF #62 MF plows,
Just my opinion

Note to file: no plow, no matter the brand will work very well if the points are worn out, you must buy some brand plow you can get parts for or otherwise, you just have a yard decoration,

Thanks, I was reading the manual for the Ferguson moldboard plow. Does the ford or Dearborn have simular adjustments for proper setup? Tractor House has a Dearborn 10-156 with Oliver bottom. Priced at 495, don't know how much shipping would be. Pictures looks like everything is there and in good shape.

The only difference in the adjustments is in the cross bar for the lower lift arms. And that should not have to be changed unless somebody has messed with it. Look for only a 2-12" or 2-14" if your soil is not too heavy. Stay away from a 2-16" as you do not have enough tractor for that. I had a TO 30 and pulled a John Deere 2-12" clutch lift converted for remote cylinder to lift behind mine. Had a Ferguson 2-14" but that pull type worked better than that mounted Ferguson plow ever did. And you want to stay away from the older plows with the blacksmith sharpen type of shares unless you plan on learning a new trade. I know how how to do the sharpening but health will not allow me to do it.

Just remember to get a plow with a cat 1 hitch, some out there will have a cat 2 hitch and will not mount to your tractor. Those will usually have been a 3 bottom with rear bottom removed for some reason or anouther but a cat will not work on a cat 1 tractor. Most items for a cat 1 hitch can be used with a cat 2 hitch but not all.

Thanks, I've found a white single. It doesn't have the coulter. Only seen it online. Will a White work ok on my to30? Are parts readily available?

I found a Ford 101. It doesn't have coulters. Looks like pretty good bottoms. I'm also seeing several 101 that have three bottoms. I think two twelve would be best for my to30.
Anyone know where I might find coulter assembly for the 101 with two fourteen bottoms?
