JD 16 spout Grain Drill. Looking for info

Bought this Drill , the only thing the side plate says is JD 16 . It looks ok but the rods that slide back in forth were froze up. The chains that run the grass seeder box are missing and all that's froze up. Can anyone tell me where I might get a manual for this model or any other info on it. Thanks

Your new to you drill is a model "B". I can still remember assembling them when I was employed at JD dealership.

What is the row spacing? Can't tell from the picture; it could be 6", 7",10" or 12", depending on what the customer ordered originally. We always had 7" spacing in our area.

Model B with 16 seed openings/disc came in 6'',7'' or 8'' spacings. No 10'' or 12'' spacings were offered on model B

Thanks for the info. I have gotten all the shaft unfroze and turning. Now I have to find some of the rubber tubes that the grain seed drops thru . I guess any plastic hose will work on the grass boxes. How important is it to have all the scrapers on there , that go up against the discs to keep them clean.

If you need the scrapers then the ground is too wet you should not be out there.

Run some diesel fuel into the seed boxes...helps to free up, and keep it free after use.

That depends on if the drill has single or double disc. Boot toe scraper is required on single disc model if there's the slightest amount of soil moisture especially if drilling in soil with crop residue.
