Deere 247 planter, change plates

Just acquired a John Deere 247 planter. I have the book but doesn't really tell me how to remove the seed plates. This unit has quite a bit of rust holding things together and afraid I might do something I might regret trying to get to the existing plates. I want to see what plates are in it now.

What comes apart where to get to the seed plates?
Thanks

Remove the box from the planter. Turn upside down. There will be a little flat spring 'catch' oppsite the hinge. Push the catchout of the way and open the bottom. Remove the plate.Use some 'panther pee' if needed.

You do not have to remove the box, just tip it up and open that spring catch and lift up the floor plate. One side of the floor plate should be smooth, other a grove to allow for flipping the floor plate for narrower or wider seeds or kernels.

Pulled the pin that holds the whole assemblies on so I could remove the hoppers along with the bottoms. Found a wing bolt down inside which I was able to remove, also lifted the bolt with the spring up out of it's grove. Still nothing moved or came apart.

Both hoppers have quite a bit of dirt collected in the bottom. Tomorrow I will see if I can wash the dirt out and if that will tell me anything.

Success.. Plates come out from inside the hopper. They finally broke loose after washing the dirt out and smacking the bottom with a rubber hammer.
