Little Genius #8 5-bottom?

Hello recently picked up this 5 bottom plow
and wanted to know if anybody knew when it
was made. Can't find any info on a #8 plow
that was made bigger than 4 bottom. It has
the old style IHC logos on it and the PO
part numbers. Any help would be appreciated.

Can't help you with your search, just wanted to add, that's a neat one to restore and take to plow days. Unusual for the time it was built, would be a good match for many later model tractors. I know an older farmer that had a similar 5 bottom back in the 50's pulled by a crawler.

Looks very unused and with all 5 matching coulters ??? That is pretty unusual. No help on what it is but one thing it IS ..a nice catch !

Regarding taking it to plow days, that plow would be a fun challenge for various tractors for bragging rights and easy to hook up to.

Thank yout for all your comments, it's been used a little but not totally shot, and no big globs of weld or rigged parts. Thinking it would look good behind a WD-40, it might give it a good work out!

What size bottoms? On some plows the ones with more bottoms were only made with the smaller bottoms like 12" bottoms. A 5-12 will actually pull easier than a 4-14 plow because with the 4-14 you are cutting a 4' narrower swath but you are normally cutting a couple of inches deeper. So a 5-12 would only be moving less dirt than a 4-14. And I think one model was only made as a 4-12" version.

Steve is correct about 1930-1946. I also notice it has one-piece levers (not two pieces to make the length adjustable) which means the plow was built 1930-1936. That's probably the best it can be narrowed down.

Thanks for all the great information! I took another look at and it has all square "dot" bolts if that helps any.
Steve what parts book are you finding info about the 5 furrow? I have looked through my 1935 and 1940 general line catalogs and they don't mention anything bigger than 4 for a #8.
IHCploughman is there any other pictures that would narrow it down better? Did they make very many of these 5s? Is it really a #8 model?
Thanks, Carl

I am looking in the PO-4 parts book. Yes, it is indeed a #8 Little Genius. They probably didn't make very many 5 bottoms, you don't see them very often. I don't think you can narrow it better than 1930-1936.
