Removing Shaker Shoe from 329 NI Sheller

Has anyone on here removed the Shaker Shoe assembly from a 329 NI Sheller? There are holes rusted in the back (left side of machine) mine behind the sieve. It would be easier to fix if I had it out but I am not sure if I have to remove any of the shafts or auger that pass through that area. I have the manual but it really does not address this other than to show the parts break down.

It has been a long time and I never had to pull the shoe. I did however pull a cage and rotor out one time. That was not to bad. I think you would have to pull the clean grain auger or be able to drop the shoe out the bottom. Can you just weld a patch on the bottom outside for the fix?

Thanks for your note. I have the fan assembly off and now the "tunnel" sheet metal that directs the air from the fan. Anyway, the tunnel is just below the rotted out part so I believe I can fix it from that location. I may have to cut a access door in the back just above the shoe to help remove and install bolts. I have seen that done on a parts picker I have.

I have found the screen below the cross auger to also be falling down, the sheet metal where the bolts go through is all cracked and busted. Anyway, having taken all that out it is clear now how to remove the shoe but I am hoping I don't have to.

The issue I have now is how to fix all this cracked and missing 16 ga. sheet metal. Small cracks I will try mig welding by using small short welds. The large cracks/missing material I will likely fix with some small bolted angle iron.

Thanks Caterpillar Guy for your post. Paul
