New Idea sickle mower-PTO shaft yolk (conversion?)

Hi everyone,
I've run into a problem.
I have a NI sickle mower that I used to use with a Farmall B, and it worked well. I got rid of the B and it took me a few years but I got a new JD 2025. I was looking forward to running the sickle mower with a modern tractor. I was anxious to hook it up. BUT I realized that the PTO yolk on the mower is the old fashioned "bolt through" style so it wont work with the new JD. I thought this would be a common issue, but I'm having a very hard time finding a yolk that will convert to the new "push button" style. Any suggestions?
The PTO shaft has a round 3/4" or 1" shaft which is squared out at the PTO yolk.
Thanks!!

One thing You could do would replace the shaft on the tractor end with a new style shaft (if You can find a shaft to match the existing on the mower end). Take it to a welding shop, & tell them You need a replacement shaft (tractor end) to slide into, or over the shaft (mower end), & have a new modern yoke welded to the shaft.

Where are you at I got a new idea mower
that's junk but does have the push button.
I think it's a 251 it's got the trip lift

The PTO end of that shaft should have a simple U-Joint. Any good farm and home store will sell the U-joint part you need and all you need to do is take the U-joint apart and install the correct PTO end on the shaft. Unless NI uses an odd ball size u-joint

Thanks for the quick response.
I'm near Green Bay WI.

It seems NI had an odd size U-joint.
I took it to a local implement repair shop and it has them puzzled too.
I think I will just get a new end and have it welded to the shaft.

I have run into that type of thing many times and have in fact welded PTO shafts many time due to what you having trouble with

I'm in south west wisc Darlington I might be heading up to the old wade house this weekend. No anybody going this way . I might know someone that comes close to your area I can check. Some time later this fall I might be going that way to. Would a mower like mine be able to cross parts? On mine between the pitman and lift plus there hard to get parts for and that's why mines headed for the scrap yard. I haven't checked yet but if the sections and gaurds fit j.d I would like to keep them if not I got a lot of new ones it's funny you stick a lot of money into something to keep it going and then it self destruct beyond repair.

NOT as convenient as a quick-disconnect yoke, but there's no reason you can't drill the yoke in the location that corresponds to the machined "ring" around the tractor's PTO shaft and drill it for a 5/16 " or 3/8" setscrew.

Install a long enough setscrew so there's threads for a matching nylock nut to use as a locknut.

NOT as safe as a modern PTO shaft with a totally-enclosed shielding "ball", but no less safe than a yoke with a spring-loaded "push to disconnet" pin.
