Nh knotter rebuild

Any of you guys rebuilt a knotter on an older nh square baler are they hard to rebuild or am I better off seeing if I can buy a new assembly or is there a place that will rebuild them for me

Not hard at all to 'rebuild'. Just order your parts an rebuild and adjust EXACTLY to the manual. A parts book is advantagous, the Owners manual is ABSOLUTELY neccesary.

tyler, I have the knotter book for doing just that. Rebuild!!!! Lot cheaper than new. Unlike John Deere, the knotter frame is rebuildable. Any questions, holler.

If the knife arm is extremely loose where the pin goes through the frame, you are better off replacing the whole knotter assembly.

Tyler,

There is a great old training film on youtube that was produced by New Holland many years ago to train their field engineers on how the knotter assembly works. It might be helpful to you to go to youtube, search on New Holland knotter, and watch the video. I have viewed the film multiple times and found it to be very helpful.

RickB, you can just put a bushing in the knotter frame and then put a new knife arm in. Takes all the slack out of the knife arm.

Time you dick around doing that ( or paying somebody else to do it ) what have you gained? Buying new twine discs, knife arm, bill hook, holder & spring, pinions and pins then bushing up a worn out frame, how much are you gonna save? If the frame is sound, fine, rebuild it. If not, cut bait.
Not everyone has a Bridgeport in the corner. And some who do shouldn't.

I just had to take apart part of my knotter assembly on a NH 276, The worst part ended up being taking the woodruff keys out of the shaft to remove the parts. Manual is absolute necessity, other than that it is not difficult. Parts are still available just follow the manual.
