Gehl 880 Haybine

Hi there,

I have a old Gehl 880 and am having troubles with the reel. When the hay gets thick and laid over the reel plugs and stops turning. It only takes a small push and it goes again. Is there an adjustment on the reel clutch to tighten it up? Do you lift the reel and move it forward?

Does any one out there have a operator manual for this thing?

Is the reel belt driven? If so tighten the belt or replace it if necessary.

No it's a chain driven gear.

I think if you track the reel drive back the chain is belt driven further back. They did that so the belt acts like a slip clutch. This is all form memory as I have not worked on a Gehl mower in 20 years.
