New Holland 120 Sickle Bar Mower

I have a New Holland model 120 sickle bar mower, mounts to the draw bar, serial #9109, and cannot find any information on it.

The pitman stick snapped and my local TSC had one that looked right, same length (approximately 34 inch give/take an eighth), correct width, slightly less tall, and had the correct holes plus the slot on the drive end. I purchased the only one they had and after just a few feet of mowing the bolts on the drive end all pulled right out. I suspect the grain of the wood was bad, but don't really have experience with this.

I contacted my local New Holland dealers, but they cannot find this model number in any of their literature. I eventually ended up contacting New Holland directly, spoke with a friendly lady by name of Abbey, and she was unable to find anything. She did take my contact info and is going to continue digging and seeking internal help, but I don't hold out much hope.

The tag on the mower is very readable.
NEW HOLLAND MACHINE CO
SERIAL NO 9109
MODEL NO 120
NEW HOLLAND MACHINE COMPANY
NEW HOLLAND PENNA

It's looking more and more like I'll have to make a custom stick, and I'd like to get the correct dimensions because I do not want to damage the machine.

Anyone out there able to help?

Further searching on the Internet has turned up an overall length for this stick ranging from 33-7/8 to 35 inches.

A picture is worth a thousand words! I've never heard of that model number either, don't mean it doesn't exist but a pic. would help greatly in identifying it.

further reading it would seem that your mower is probably 47' or earlier as sperry rand bought new holland machine co. in 47' sooo that may be a tough find.

I've had good luck making pitman sticks out of white oak . If you can find some old rough cut native oak all the better . 34" sounds about right for most sickle mowers . if yu make it too long you just wack it off and add another hole. I've used many broken pieces to make a pattern. good luck.

If TSC had it on the shelf that fit I'm sure one of the other stores would still have one. Given how little use you got out of it you may get the next one for free.

After talking to my local New Holland Dealers, one of them gave me a number to call New Holland directly. I talked to a nice lady there who could not find this model, but promised to dig deeper and get back to me. Another lady called me back and sent me a link for a document management center, where I was able to order both a Parts Manual and the Assembly And Operating Instructions.

Anyone else looking for this model, or other old stuff, the link I was given is www.dmcretail.com

Select the brand, then enter whatever info you have.

I am in the process of making a new stick now and hope to complete it this week.

Thanks everyone
