Just bought a Ferguson 2 bottom plow and was trying to se if anyone knew where I could get the colters and brackets. The tag on it says Ferguson- Sherman Mfg. Corp. No. 16417, Type: 14A. I'm kinda new to this so was also needing to know what the disc was at the rear of the plow> Thanks for all your help in advance.

best bet is to find one at an auction for parts, its hard to find just the sod cutters for that plow if I am thinking of the same one. Where are you located?

Yep that looks like it Steve. Guessing it at one time had the colters on it because it still has the 2 chains on it.

Am in the middle of rebuilding a Ferguson 2-14 that was rescued from the junk man. Have discovered most parts for these plows are either unobtainium or made from gold. Mine only had part of one colter but have heard they can still be useable without colters. We shall see..

I have attached a picture of a modification for plow coulters that my father and I use. We took some Kinze no-till hubs and had spacers machined so that they filled the gap between the hub and Coulter yolk then ran a bolt through. This way you get a sealed grease-able bearing that can easily take multiple types of Coulter blades. with 4 bolts it is easy to swap out and the parts are fairly cheap. The straight edge coulters in the picture had their holes stamped for both Kinze and Yetter which is why each is oval shaped.

Coulters are out there. I bought three coulter assemblies at the flea market Sunday before last for $10.00 a piece! Coulters seem to be the first thing that farmers took off the plow around here. Find Scott Pa on here or over on the other board for Ford tractors (which I can't name here). He specializes in plow parts for Ford and Ferguson from 1939 to 1955.
