NH 770 electric controls

Just bought a NH 770 chopper with electric controls. Had planned to put the white 105 on it, but with all the recent rain may have to use the Oliver 1900 [rice tires and FWD] if we can go at all. THE 1900 is 12v positive ground. The chopper control box has alligator clips on the input wire. I plan on clipping the wires directly to the battery, + to + and - to -. will this work ok? thanks for any thoughts

Probably not. Check for continuity between the negative alligator clip and the chopper tongue and or frame. If you have continuity, the controls will not work and connecting as you suggest will create a dead short.

I think you are right. The only way it might work is to totally isolate the chopper from the tractor, which is virtually impossible. may have to put another battery somewhere to run the controls. If we ever can get into the fields. Still have water standing in the hayfields, haven't dared to check the corn fields yet. Thanks for your reply.
