855 chain replacement

A friend wants me to help him to try and find the best chains at the best value for his late serial no 855 baler. I have looked up the chains on shoup's and messick's. Does anybody have any reccomendations of other places to try for parts, becasue right now it looks like shoup has the advantage on price.

I have not purchased chains for my 855 from shoup yet, but if or when I do replace them, it will be from them, everything i have ever ordered from shoup has been very very good quality parts. I can give that recommendation. If they do get them from Shoup, let us all know what you think. I will likely need to do this on mine in the next year or two.

The back-breaker on these balers; it's the silly air bags. Look 'em over good. It will absolutely curl the ears on your checkbook if you have to replace.

I bought chains for my 851 from Shoup, ordered them early 1 day they showed up the next day. They are heaver that the original ones I took out. Would not be afraid to do it again.

You can buy aftermarket airbags from a truck parts store. I forget the number, but an old time parts guy can set you up.

Before he buys, check the price at Fry's. They've beat any place I can find yet. 570-546-3968.
