it is either a "D" series or a "L" series drill, not enough seen it he pic above to confirm

Yups, I pulled images on both "D" and "L", mine appears to be an "L". I posted several other pictures as "replies" to my own posting and also under "Help Identify". I could not figure out how to attach several pics to one posting. In any case, I do THANK YOU very much for your response, this clue will point me in the right direction. Any idea how to determine the year? Its likely I'll need to buy some parts.... If your aware of any sources and I have some specific questions I'd like to ask someone about things like: Hub to Spindle contact, straightening the "Z" shape axle to get the hub/driven gears to align properly, WHY is this thing green, orange/Red and yellow, should it not be all Red? any help or guidance is appreciated.

as to color, early ones were red and green, then later they added Flambeau (orange) but still had some red and green,, later yet close to end of production of these models they dropped the green and added Desert Sunset as to years,,, I will have to dig and see if I can get black and white for proof but I would say right now starting about 1940 and running through 1968 and maybe into 1969 if not the whole year
