I came across a 4ft sickle bar mower attachment. I was told it might be from a Bolens tractor.
My plan is to make up a unit that will fit on the forks of my skid loader and power it from a spare motor I'm not using. I should be able to start and stop the sickle bar with an electric clutch.
My question is how fast should the sickle bar cycle? If I can come up with a number, I can use a combination of pulleys to get the correct cycle speed.
I know what I'm doing is a little out of the ordinary, but I have been known to try strange things. What's driving this is I have a hedge that is about 8ft high and I can't trim it at that height.
Using the skid lift should give me the height I need.
If it works and I get good at this, maybe I can trim the hedge into the shape of a poodle.
Thanks for any input.
