O ring and back up ring in Ford 5610 remote outlet

Does the white back up ring go in first and then the black rubber o ring. Do they go in the same grove or different grooves. Thanks

The white backup ring goes in the same grove as the rubber oring. On JD couplers the backup ring goes in first and the oring towards the back from the backup ring.

Backup ring goes in the "air side". It prevents the rubber ring from getting chafed against the outer side of the O-ring groove by the pressure inside the coupler.

In other words, the teflon ring is the first one you see looking into the coupler, rubber ring is farther inside.
