John deere #10 side mount sickle mower

when the cutter bar is lowered to the outer shoe touching the ground the inner end is 5" of the ground and the outer end of the bar is 3.25" off the ground. how do you adjust this to get the both ends of the cutter bar the same height?

If you observe the lift mechanism, there's a heavy spring that counterbalances the weight of the outer end of the cutterbar, and it's tension can be adjusted. HOWEVER, it's pretty close already if it's only 1.75" "off".

As the other poster says, if you want to clip with the cutterbar off of the ground you need to lower the inner and outer "soles" or runners under the inner "shoes" so they ride on the ground while the cutterbar is at the height you want.

If the runners can't be dropped far enough down to carry the cutterbar at the height you want, for some DEERE sickle mowers a "high cut kit" with runners or even a wheel at the outer end was available, but I don't see any of that in the parts catalog for the #10. Probably something could be adapted.
