57 IH baler

Well, it looks like I'm about to be the owner of a #57 IH twine tie baler.
I'm a fair baler man for regular knotters, but I'm a bit shy on IH baler knotters.
All the others have a wiper arm to pull the knot off the bill hook,
but the IH has the bale pull it off.
Do the IH operator or field service manuals have good instructions for the
care, feeding and loving of their knotters?
The 57 appears to be a monster of a machine!!
I won't use it this season, but hopefully next year.
It appears to be in good shape, not too much wear.
Thanks
Jon

Yes,a 57 is a monster. It will eat an awful lot of hay. It will also make an 'oddball' 15"x19" bale. And yes,tha IH manuals do a faif job of covering the bases.

I still have a 55W,and have owned a 56.A 57 is the 'same' as the 56.They are slower stroke machines, but have a HUGE appetite for hay.Buy your books from BinderBooks.

I also have a 57 and recommend you not bale hay with it as the 15x19 bale is much heavier than normal and they need to be loaded by very large men , the normal square here in Louisiana is 80-100 lbs.but with a 57 your bale will be 120-160 lbs. I bale with mine a 4' long bale and sell to people with bx kubotas and like John Deere tractors because they can't lift round bales with the small tractors but they can't lift the bale by hand.
