Hesston 5800 round baler

Purchased a used Hesston 5800 round baler at the beginning of the season. Worked real well without any problems for first cutting. Started second cutting and was working just fine as well. The last 2 fields I have baled it gave me problems. The first time when baling at any point the belts would stop moving and it wouldn't roll the bale. I also noticed that the chain was slipping over a cog on the left side that moves a roller at the bottom. I also noticed that day was coming back up around the bottom roller on top of the throat clogging the belts from moving back and fourth. Not sure what is the real reason for the belts stopping. Second filed I completed last night and was having the same problem. Bale would stop rolling as the belts stopped moving. The chain and cod was slipping some but not as bad as the first time. Of course the hey isn't as tall as first cutting. Thought maybe that was the problem letting it come back up around roller jamming them up and prevent them from moving. Belts seem to be in descent shape. Any thoughts. Thanks.

Forgot to mention I have checked all mechanical parts and I believe they are all working and turning appropriately except for the one cog that slips some when belts stop. belts are the only thing that I can see not moving when this happens.

If you have a chain slipping on a gear, that's where I'd start looking. Other issues could be seized bearings or sheared keys. Hay wrapping on a belt roller means it's not feeding into the bale chamber, probably because of that slipping chain. Start with that. Do you have an op manual that outlines belt tension and troubleshooting?

My thought was the chain and gears as well. I looked over everything and do not see a sheared key. All rollers turn and work just fine. I can move them easily by hand. The only problem is the hey lodging around the roller and belt not allowing the belt to move side by side and the chain slipping the gear. I only notice the chain slipping when the belts stop moving. At this time all rollers continue to move. I do not have an op manual to determine belt tension. They look ok to me and worked just fine for most of the season.

All round balers must have everything turning to work right. First thought is the hay wet some models will
wrap and look things up. Are the roller knives all in place on the drive rollers? Many used balers had them
removed less to hang up in dry hay. If a chain is jumping the gear it is either real loose or something it
is powering is locking up. Roller shafts canbreak inside the roller and still partly function. Look closely
at the side of baler at the edge of the rollers see if there are wear marks. Pry on rollers at each end
looking for movement. Also a idler roller that spins but has a clicking or groaling noise will lock up
under load powered rollers will due the same and get hot faster. If you have a temp gun check temps on all
bearings one bearing with an intermiten problem is like a anti lock brake. It doesn't have to stop to be a
brake.
