Flywheel bushing NH68

Has anyone ever replaced the flywheel bushing in the center of a New Holland 68 baler? I did a web search but can't find anything on it. I also can't find anyone that stocks such a critter. My local dealer thinks it might be brass, but I don't know. I'm assuming it will take a good press and freezing to install? I've got quite a bit of wobble in mine and it needs doing.

I have not changed one on a 68. Have changed them on other balers, NH 282 for example. It has a thin bushing that you almost need to roll out, but new bushing went in pretty good. Not cheap though, as I remember a few years back was around $100. The shear pin sleeves are different.

Oops in my earlier post my mind was homed in on shear pin bushing.

Messicks shows 2 flywheel bushings in stock. PN 80152422 @ $74.57. Most bushings aren't difficult to replace.

Thanks guys! Jim, I don't know how you found that bushing. I can't anything for the 68 baler to come up at all on Messicks site. But at least now I can order one.

Bushing I located is key 5.1.

Between doing the flywheel bushing and sheer bushings on our Massey #12, it drastically reduced the number of shear bolts it was breaking. Amazing how much time that used to comsume while baling. Used to take a good 1 1/2 hours to load a wagon. Now we can do a load in 45 minutes, and maybe break 1 bolt a day, if that often. Usually on a slug.

Mine was wore quite bad so I scored it with a hack saw blade . Sharp screw driver got
behind it and it folded up . As I recall new one wasn't too thick.

I changed one years ago on a NH 65. It was popping shear bolts and wobbling on the corners. Not hard to do. I did like mtny said and sliced the old bushing with a hacksaw blade and pried it out with a screwdriver. The new one just tapped into place with a hammer and a block do wood. Worst part was manhandling the flywheel. I don't recall the price but it probably wasn't expensive given my financial status at the time (and now)..... haha. Good luck

Huh I just tried searching for "68 baler", "S68", "S68 baler" and "68 Hayliner" and got no results for any of them. I can find stuff on the New Holland site, so I suppose searching by part number at Mesicks is the answer.

Okay, apparently you have to search using "s68" and not "S68"! I think they need to tweek the search criteria a bit....

I changed one on our 311 a few years back.
Like others said, the hardest part was
getting the old one out. Was mangled before
it was done. That one was brass. I took the
flywheel off by myself. Was heavier than I
thought, made sure I had help putting it
back on.

FWIW - you can go to New Holland's parts website and download printable PDF copies of their parts list. I use it all the time - if for nothing
else, dissembly and reassembly views.

Below is a YouTube video of a guy changing the flywheel bushing.

I've got a flywheel bushing somewhere to put on my 68 - it's on the round2it list. I want to say the bushing is split on one wall down the length,
so installation shouldn't be difficult. IMHO the challenge is to get the driveline removed without shearing a bolt or two and then managing the
weight of the flywheel.

Hope is helps.

Uppercase "S" shows same PC as lower case "s" on my computer.

It's probably the difference in browsers or something. I use Firefox for instance. But thanks for the help!

Thanks Bill, I have NH's site bookmarked, but it didn't occur to me try running part numbers. Lesson learned!
