How to adjust a 10-foot Rhino shredder to a JD 6105D

I am trying to shred some grass & weeds with a 10-foot Rhino shredder attached to a JD 6105D. I have two questions:

1. what should be position of the center link? Shall I have the back wheels of the shredder off the ground or should the shredder rest on the back wheels?

2. what should be position of the sway chains? Shall they be locking the movement of the shredder?

Thank you,

Paul

You want the back wheel to be running on the ground. You want the front of the rotary cutter to be a little lower than the back. This way the cuter only has to cut the material once in the front. If you want to mower higher or lower adjust the tail wheels up or down as needed. Now with your cutter mowing lower in the front you want the top link long enough that the mower can follow the ground was you go over humps and valleys. Most rotary cutter have a linkage in the top hitch to allow some movement You want the cutter to lift level or little high in the rear when lifted up all of the way. You do not want the cutter hammering the tail wheel when you go over bumps and valleys.

As for sway chains. I set mine to allow a little movement. Maybe 3-4 inches. This way when your mowing close to things you can "bump" against them and not bent the hitch or tractor lift links.
