I just completed a new flatrack made of white ash. I was wondering if anyone ever used a hand sprayer with used oil to coat the rack?It would be nice if it worked! All suggestions are appreciated. Thank you

I have use a sprayer(powered with compressed air) but had to put oil in container that I could put some pressure in to force oil out. I found that a wide paint brush worked the best. The compressed air got the oil into air and anything down wind would get a film of oil on it. I do mine when they forecast a few hot days in upper 80's through 90's and it soaks in.

I use a broom like roofers use. I don't know why sprayer would not work.
I have an air hooked hose to my hand held sprayer and use up to 30 lbs of pressure.

I also use a paint roller. When using a sprayer I mixed diesel fuel with it to spray better. Roller seems to put a better coat on.

I used a hand held, hand pump sprayer on the wagon deck we made, but is rough cut pine. So far so good. Many folks have recommended to me to ditch the deck preservative I use and coat at the end of the year with used motor oil. Got plenty of that.....

I thought of using a hand sprayer on mine but I was concerned about it plugging and getting it cleaned ou to go again. I used a wide brush, and slopped it on heavy. It went very quickly. I used an old brush and didn't bother to clean it because I knew that I would be doing the other one soon.
