Safely transport JD corn planter without hydro cylinder?

Looking at needing to transport a JD 494A planter about 30 miles. Do not have a cylinder for it. Is there any safe way to set and lock it in raised position for road towing behind a truck?

There should be a 'transport pin' somewhere near the cylinder mount.Or you can buy one of those 'ratchet jacks' used to take
the place of a cylinder.I have one. Use it from time to time wqhen I need to raise an implement when no tractor is
available(like at a sale).NEVER rely on a cylinder as support on an implement when it is not behind a tractor.Hoses can leak,or
burst.Never get under it ether without the safty lock/transport pin in place.

Thanks for the advice. Will look for the locking pin, else try to find a local source for ratchet jack device -- we have TSC, FFH, Menards, and out a ways, various tractor/implement shops...

Even if it had a cylinder use the built in system designed for storage or transport. Easy to use. You only need something if it was set down on the ground for storage instead of the pin being put in and then you would need something , even a manure loader, to raise it to where you can get that pin in. That planter should have a built in stand that you use in conjunction with the cylinder to set the toung height to drawbar to hook up and then raise with cylinder, put stand in transport position and put carry pin in position then draw cylinder back together so no weight is on cylinder for transport. That planter requires a special pin that consists of a main pin, second one 1/2" diameter and a hairpin clip. Same pin used on KBA disk and sprayer, possibly other implements. Pin has either a fole in top for small pin to go through or main pin will have a bend in for that small pin. Normal pin will not stay in hitch clevis. I have used 3 different planters that use that pin along with that disk and sprayer. The 494 planter has same wat to lock in transport but has a jack on front of toung for storage-hookup.
