I saw something go by here today on a semi, painted JD green looks-- like a European non stop round baler. It had no name or markings on the machine. Is Jd working on 1?

JohnDeere is always testing prototypes.Just last year they tested a new combine and 16 row cornhead in a local BTO's cornfields. The local farmers were not allowed anywhere close. Not even the landowner. It was all pretty 'hush hush'.

I've read that those continuous Roto-Balers had an "overdrive" attachment to speed up the wrapping
cycle so not as much hay had to be recycled around to the pickup. The same book said that they
were not trouble free and that many had the "windrow recycler" removed and were used as
conventional balers. The one in the video looks like it is working pretty good.

Vermeer has been working on one since the 70s first saw one in 77 i think. They had problems with the stringing. Plus it was a big heavy baler. Back then they did less structural engineering more if it bends/breaks make it heavier bigger. JD had a tendency to copy others innovations then battle in court. They have stopped that in recent years after loosing to Vermeer on several balers. Funny thing was while they were in court Vermeer was building disks for them.

This baler looked nothing like the Vermeer in the video.. Guess I'll wait and see if anything comes on the market that looks like it.
