Anyone out there have a scrapped or no longer in use IH Model 16 hay rake they would part out? The bearings went bad on my buddies old rake and chewed the gears to pieces. The number on the gear is 473391R1. New gears can't be purchased from case IH. Have had no luck finding new or used online . Thanks!

Not sure what one you have is it one of the old big front wheel and 2 small back wheels??

It is a rear wheel only with pneumatic tires. I don't have a picture of it but it is a 1960's vintage. The gear box is covered by a curved shield but not an oil bath type. I found schematics and part numbers on a website called Messicks.

I cannot get to a parts book to tell what that gear looks like,Do you have the old gear that you could post a picture of? That could help a lot. Depending on how it is designed it could be possible to fabricate a new one out of steel instead of orignal cast.

I tried to upload and share a pic of the gearbox but the picture I uploaded didn't follow my reply. When I figure it out I will post some pix....

16 has two large wheels in back and none in front. Front rides on drawbar and is pinned. I raked a bunch of hay towing mine with a Suzuki Samurai. I used it on steep side hills.
